Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb have bickered about snacking in bed before, but Bush Hager could not help but tease her co-host about it again during Thursday’s broadcast of Today when they were joined by a live audience in Bermuda.
While discussing what their “perfect Mother’s Day” would entail, Bush Hager confessed, “Well, I don’t love breakfast in bed because I don’t love a crummy sheet.”
Kotb turned to the audience and told them, “She wont eat in bed. Raise your hand if you don’t mind eating in bed. Thank you!”
Bush Hager then prompted the audience to raise their hands if they “don’t like crummy sheets.”
“Do not try to convince them!” Kotb replied. She later said that she eats in bed because she likes “a nice meal while you’re watching TV cozied in.”
But Bush Hager was not buying it. “Do you know what she eats in bed? She eats Ritz Crackers. If Hoda had her perfect Mothers Day, it’d be this: She’d sneak into her room, she’d have a whole sleeve, this is how well I know her, she’d eat the whole [sleeve]… She’ll be watching some rom-com,” she said.
Kotb agreed and began pantomiming herself opening a sleeve of “buttery” crackers and eating them. “No chewing,” she said, joking that she would just “swallow” them.
Later on in the broadcast, the Today hosts were introduced to Brooke Shields’ new Netflix movie, Mother of the Bride.
Starring Benjamin Bratt, Miranda Cosgrove, Chad Michael Murray, and Sean Teale, the Father of the Bride remake follows Shields’ character as she realizes that the man her husband is marrying is actually related to the man who broke her heart in college.
The juicy trailer was enough to entice Kotb and Bush Hager, who joked, “Well, we know what Hoda will be doing tonight with some Ritz Crackers.”
The co-hosts previously bickered about snacking in bed when Bush Hager reminded her co-host that she was at risk of inviting mice into her New York City apartment if she continued.
“Here, let me show you what you do,” Kotb said as she mimicked brushing the crumbs off onto the floor.
Bush Hager was not a fan. “So that it’s all over your ground?” she asked in shock. “In your New York city apartment where little mice like to come and eat a Ritz cracker?”
