San Diego Officer Anthony Hair Resigns After Being Found in Patrol Car Backseat with Detainee, Alleged Sexual Misconduct Confirmed by Semen Evidence: “I’m Down to F* Right Now”

A San Diego police officer has resigned following an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct with a female detainee. Officer Anthony Hair, a member of the force since 2017, stepped down after an incident in August 2023 that raised serious concerns about his conduct while on duty.

According to a report by CBS 8, Officer Hair was transporting a woman to a detention center after her arrest on suspicion of car theft. During the drive, an inappropriate conversation reportedly occurred between Hair and the detainee. The exchange began with the woman inquiring about Hair’s relationship status. “Are you single?” she asked, to which Hair responded, “Yeah, but you’re not.”

The conversation escalated when the woman expressed a desire to engage in sexual activity, stating, “I’m down to f—k right now.” Hair, aware that their conversation was being recorded, initially attempted to deter her by saying, “Don’t say that right now … Don’t say that right now because everything is being recorded right now.”

Despite this, Hair proceeded to turn off the cameras in the patrol car, parked on a residential street and joined the woman in the backseat. About 15 to 20 minutes later, Hair made a distress call to a fellow officer, claiming he had locked himself in the backseat with the detainee. Another officer arrived about an hour later and freed Hair from the backseat, but questioned his reasons for being there in the first place.

Hair asserted that he had entered the backseat to assist the woman with a medical emergency, resulting in him inadvertently locking himself in. However, an internal investigation raised doubts about this explanation. Evidence found during the investigation, including semen on Hair’s belt, suggested that some form of sexual activity had occurred.

Before the investigation could conclude, Officer Hair resigned from his position. The San Diego Police Department has yet to release a formal statement regarding the resignation or the findings of the investigation.
