Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin is set for a whirlwind diplomatic tour, spanning France, Italy, and Japan, to bolster international ties and attract investment to Thailand.
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin’s diplomatic agenda is packed to the brim as he gears up for his second official voyage to France on May 15 to 16, followed by visits to Italy and Japan from May 17 to 24. The trip is poised to fortify the burgeoning cooperation between Thailand and these nations, to foster economic growth and mutual collaboration.
In France, the Bangkok-born prime minister is slated to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron to further solidify the foundations laid during his previous visit in March. A highlight of his itinerary includes spearheading a delegation of Thai business luminaries at the Thailand-France Business Forum & Roundtable, an event borne out of the productive discussions held earlier this year.
Italy beckons next on the agenda, where PM Srettha will engage in bilateral talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The focus will be on exploring avenues of collaboration in renewable energy, sports tourism, medical sciences, pharmaceuticals, and defence cooperation. The 62 year old Thai prime minister will extend invitations to Italian investors, urging them to capitalise on investment opportunities in Thailand’s burgeoning sectors.
Wrapping up his diplomatic marathon, PM Srettha will jet off to Japan to deliver a keynote address at the prestigious 29th Nikkei Forum Future of Asia, reported Pattaya Mail.
His objective is to instil confidence in Japanese investors and lure further investment to Thailand, solidifying its position as Japan’s primary investment hub in ASEAN.
In related news, Government Spokesperson Chai Wacharonke revealed PM Srettha’s inspection tour of three provinces: Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi, spanning May 10 to 12.
The former property developer initiated discussions on local matters at the Lad Nam Tien floodgate in Suphan Buri Province. He also mingled with the public at the Jorakhesamphan Sluice Gates, delving deeper into community concerns.
