Party time! Lauren Sanchez celebrates her grand Met Gala debut while mingling with fashion A-listers and her billionaire fiance Jeff Bezos… after Anna Wintour invited her on one STRICT condition

Lauren Sanchez made her Met Gala debut as she rubbed shoulders with fashion A-listers while joined by her Amazon billionaire fiance Jeff Bezos – who skipped the red carpet – as they led the stars partying the night away.

The 54-year-old former Good Day LA co-host – who was invited by Vogue boss Anna Wintour to the event on one condition – looked like she was having the time of her life on fashion’s biggest night in New York City.

Each year on the first Monday of May, Hollywood’s most elite gather at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the Big Apple for a dazzling ball that has been hailed by some as the biggest night of fashion.

At the affair Sanchez was seen hanging out with supermodels Gigi Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski along with actress and Elvis Presley’s granddaughter Riley Keough.

Her wealthy fiance Bezos, 60, even joined her for a snap with pal Kris Jenner, 68, and her much younger boyfriend Corey Gamble, 43.

At the gala event Lauren put on an incredible display in a custom-made Oscar de la Renta gown.

And it seems like the dress was a major sticking point regarding her invitation to the event as it was previously said that Wintour was ‘personally helping’ her select a dress because the Vogue editor thinks Jeff Bezos’ fiancée has ‘poor taste.’

Famously icy host Anna, 74, is known for being meticulous about who scores an invite to the coveted event, and according to previous reports, she wanted Lauren to come on one condition – she had a say in what she wore.

An insider told fashion journalist Amy O’Dell recently that Anna is working with Lauren to ‘select her dress,’ and that the pair is ‘choosing between custom looks by Oscar de la Renta and two other designers.’

‘Anna doesn’t always get personally involved in what guests wear,’ the reporter wrote, but added an insider said that the Vogue editor knows Lauren has ‘poor taste.’

And while the dress itself at the event was indeed eye-catching, what was more jaw-dropping was the enormous new diamond that Lauren was wearing on her wedding finger, a huge pear-shaped design that eclipsed even the giant rock Bezos had proposed with back in 2023.

It’s unclear whether Lauren had simply borrowed the staggering jewel for the event – or whether her fiance splashed out on an upgraded design – but she chose to let it shine, going largely without any other accessories, save for another diamond ring on her pinky and a pair of diamond earrings hanging from her lobes.

Meanwhile her dress still managed to draw plenty of attention.

However, stealing the show on the red carpet was the enormous new rock the former TV anchor was wearing on her wedding finger

Designed to look like ‘shattered glass’, the strapless gown perfectly accentuated Lauren’s enviable figure, with the voluminous skirt flowing around her as she made her way up the iconic Metropolitan Museum steps and into the event.

While the top of the dress was relatively simple, featuring a black bustier with a strapless sweetheart neckline, the skirt was covered in intricate floral patterns that looked much like a garden mosaic – very much in keeping with this year’s dress code, The Garden of Time.

The Costume Institute’s spring exhibition falls on the first Monday in May every year and is held at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This year the event was titled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion while the dress code is The Garden of Time.

Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth were this year’s co-chairs.  Also on the committee is Vogue’s Anna Wintour.

The honorary chairs for the evening are Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew.

‘This year’s co-chairs reflect a variety of career achievements, and all have distinct style histories with the Met Gala,’ Vogue shared.

The showcase will feature approximately 250 items drawn from The Costume Institute’s permanent collection – with many of the pieces too fragile to ever be worn again.

The pieces will all be displayed using elements such as AI, GCI, and more while playing up themes of land, sea, and sky.

‘It is very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion,’ said Andrew Bolton, Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute, of the upcoming exhibition.

‘One thing I hope this show will activate is that sensorial appreciation of fashion.’

Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony and Ashley Graham are hosted while YouTuber Emma Chamberlain is expected to interview stars on the red carpet.
