New look at ‘Romeo + Juliet’ on Broadway starring Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler

Broadway is set to witness a fresh take on Shakespeare’s classic tragedy “Romeo + Juliet,” starring Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler. The highly anticipated production, directed by Tony Award-winner Sam Gold, will begin previews on September 26, with an official opening night scheduled for October 24 at the Circle in the Square Theatre. The show will run for a limited 16-week engagement.

The production boasts a distinguished design team. Scenic design will be handled by dots, a two-time 2024 Tony Award nominee, while costumes will be designed by Enver Chakartash, also a 2024 Tony nominee. Lighting design will be the work of Isabella Byrd, a two-time nominee this year, and sound design by Cody Spencer, who similarly has two 2024 Tony nominations to his name. Rachel Bauder will oversee production stage management.

Adding to the star-studded team, Grammy Award winner Jack Antonoff will provide the music, and Tony Award winner Sonya Tayeh will create the movement for the production. This unique blend of talents promises to bring a dynamic and contemporary flair to the timeless tale.

Left to their own devices in their parents’ world of violent ends, an impulsive pair of star-crossed lovers hurtle towards their inescapable fate.
