Married at First Sight groom Jack Dunkley has responded to his infamous “snout” comment.

During a dinner party in season 11, the 34-year-old personal trainer left the other couples and viewers stunned when he told Jonathan McCullough to “muzzle” his wife Lauren Dunn.

Speaking on Luke Erwin’s Project 23 podcast last week, Dunkley admitted he was wrong to make the comment because he was “a bit drunk.”

“I left, I made some really bad judgment calls and said some really weird things,” he admitted.

Dunkley clarified his meaning, saying, “I didn’t properly call Lauren a dog… I was actually just thinking, ‘Shut up, Lauren. Shut up – muzzle.’ “I wouldn’t actually call her a dog because I think that’s quite bad,” he claimed.

The groom admitted that ideally he would have left before the situation escalated.

“I own it, I apologized, stupid thing to do,” he finished.

Dunkley also responded to the recent backlash after Abbie Chatfield, 28, criticized Domenica Calarco, 31, and her Sit With Us podcast co-host Ella Ding, 30, for “platforming” Jack over his infamous “snout” comment on the show, where they failed to hold the ‘woman-hating’ groom accountable.

“I thought Dom and Ella’s podcast was a really good conversation and a really good platform to just have an open conversation,” Jack said.

“I remember so many times Dom and Ella not giving an opinion and not saying this is how it is, this is not how it is,” he claimed.

“Dom literally looks at the camera and says ‘don’t twist my words,’ and I always told her, ‘I’m just giving you my side,’” he continued.

Dom and Ella have apologized after hosting Dunkley on their Sit With Us podcast.

In a recent episode of their podcast titled A Time To Reflect, Learn and Grow, the former Married At First Sight co-stars discussed the season 11 star on their show and the online backlash that followed.

In their 35-minute apology episode, Ella began by denying claims from former fans who had turned on the co-hosts.

“Personally, I think if you’re a Sit With Us listener and have been a loyal listener for two years, if you actually think we’re supporting misogyny, I think it’s really stupid,” she began.

“We’re not doubling down here,” Dom added. “Yes, we may have stumbled. But we strongly push back on the horrible comments that we are anti-feminist.

Elsewhere in the episode, Dom continued: “This is something I really want to say in the right way and I’ve written down the notes. I have written so many words and notes in the last four days. I’m trying to put all this aside.

“But I understand now that having Jack on the podcast made people angry because it might have shown that we weren’t supporting women because we gave him a platform, and that was never what we wanted to convey at all.

“But because I upset people, because I made people feel uncomfortable and because I triggered them in that situation by having Jack there, I apologize. We never wanted to offend or hurt people by having him on the podcast. That was never our intention.’

Dom reiterated Ella’s statement at the start of the podcast, mentioning the negative social media reactions that followed the release of their episode with Jack.

‘Thousands of hateful comments claim that we are not real feminists. And in the same breath they admitted that they never interfered with our content,” she continued.

Dom later admitted that she still has a lot to learn when it comes to interviewing guests on the podcast, saying, “I don’t have a journalism degree.”
