Hayes will make his acting debut in the western and looked like his father’s mini-me during the photocall where they both wore smart white suits.
The actor and director’s son plays the younger version of his character in the film, the first part of a planned four-film quadrilogy.
The film marks the 69-year-old Costner’s fourth directorial effort and his first in two decades since his 2003 Western Open Range.
While very little is still known about the story, Costner’s character will be at the heart of it.

The actress, 42, looked stunning as she went braless under a beige bouclé blazer which she teamed with black wide-leg jeans.
Sienna, who plays Frances Kittredge, left her long blonde locks loose in waves and elevated her body with a pair of statement gold metallic heels.
Kevin, who plays pioneer Hayes Ellison who heads west through dangerous territory in hopes of a new life in the new film, wore black sunglasses.
