Australian professional golfer Jason Day was hilariously caught swearing into a hot microphone during the PGA Championship as he reacted violently to a bad tee shot.

Starting on the sixth hole – a par four – at Valhalla Golf Club on Sunday, 36-year-old Day hit a tee shot at 155mph with a top of 40 yards, but the ball went fairly wide from its intended purpose.

‘Well done on closing this gap and the extreme challenge it presents. A lot has to do with the fairway. You can’t just let it rip. You have to play for position off the tee…” an ESPN play-by-play announcer said before the hot mic delivered the funniest moment of the tournament’s final day.

‘W***er!’ a frustrated Day complained after his swing.

The 2015 PGA Championship winner entered hole No. 6 at 7 under, eight shots behind Xander Schauffele.

He was tied for 38th in Kentucky at the time with four other players, including Max Homa.

He even shot 71 in the first round.

In round two, he stepped up his game to avoid the cut and shot four under to get into the third and fourth rounds.

Day shot 69 in the third round and is one under through five holes on Sunday.

Unlike fellow American Cameron Smith, who joined LIV in 2022, Day is still a member of the PGA Tour. He has been a member of the Tour since 2006.
