Enormous blaze engulfs inner-city timber boarding house as emergency crews rush to evacuate residents

    A massive blaze has ripped apart a wooden guest house as firefighters race to extinguish it.

    Emergency services were called to the house on Walton St in Dutton Park, just south of Brisbane’s CBD, at 2.50pm on Tuesday to set it on fire.

    Footage from the shocking scene showed a huge column of smoke reaching into the sky as paramedics treated a woman with an oxygen mask.

    The building was severely damaged by the fire and had to be declared safe by the emergency services at 3:45 p.m.

    The police have set up an exclusion zone.
