Drink up Dems… a hell of a hangover’s coming! MAUREEN CALLAHAN rages at Trump’s guilty verdict travesty – and reveals why feckless, gloating liberals have just crowned our next president

To all the progressives out there rejoicing and cheering, live it up now because you probably just gave Trump another four years.

Trump has lost. America has that too.

Not that you would know it from most of yesterday’s coverage, in which so-called reporters and journalists practically floated more than 34 guilty verdicts in a trial that was nothing but a political bull’s-eye.

You can hate Donald Trump, like me and so many others, and still be outraged.

This case – which the FBI declined to prosecute – was wrongly based on “election interference.”

You want to talk about election interference? What about keeping the Republican candidate for president out of the campaign for almost two months? Or is he planning his sentencing just four days before the Republican convention?

To all the progressives out there rejoicing and cheering, live it up now because you probably just gave Trump another four years.

To all the progressives out there rejoicing and cheering, live it up now because you probably just gave Trump another four years.

This makes America smaller. We are becoming smaller and more petty, with no turnaround in sight.

This is a loss that transcends legality. It’s hard to be proud of a nation that not only adheres to this, but enjoys it.

It is not without reason that Trump’s website crashed yesterday. Working people, struggling in this economy that Biden insists is going gangbusters, are donating out of outrage. Trump’s campaign raised a staggering $34.8 million within hours of the verdict.

His poll numbers rose by six points, according to a quick survey from DailyMail.com.

How’s that for a Pyrrhic victory?

These are the people who stood up for Trump in the thousands last week in the Bronx, and who now see in him what they know all too well: profiling and targeting by a corrupt criminal justice system.

Now Donald Trump is the unlikely hero of the oppressed, while Joe Biden begs and bullies the black community for their votes.

The part of the electorate that would otherwise have put this off – who wants to get out of bed and choose between two old men, flawed candidates that no one really wants? – will look at this prosecution of Trump, the weaponization of our justice system, and will not vote for Just Trump in return for what was done to him.

This is what Trump said after the verdict: No longer the boastful showman, but dejected, defeated, frustrated – and calm.

This was a new Trump, one we haven’t seen before: composed. Tonally on target. Meeting the moment.

“This was a shame,” he said. “This was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who was corrupt… The real verdict will be on November 5, by the people.”

    Truer words.

Apparently not a single juror could look Trump in the face as the “guilty” verdicts were read, but look away or at the ground.

They knew what they had done.

But these jurors, many of them well-educated, simply couldn’t bear to return to their families, jobs and polite society in deep-blue New York City without convicting Donald J. Trump.

“Everyone knows what happened here,” Trump said. ‘We have done nothing wrong. I’m a very innocent man. And it’s okay. I fight for our country, I fight for our constitution… We will keep fighting. We will fight to the end, and we will win.”

But the mainstream media was fired up and ready to go, presenting this judgment as one a fait accompli, the end of Trump – as if it won’t be overturned on appeal, as if his conviction won’t be overturned.

The entire process was a farce, a sideshow, and completely inappropriate for the world’s last great superpower.

The charges were brought by Alvin Bragg, a lousy prosecutor responsible for a soft-on-crime policy that is destroying this once great metropolis.

A two-time convicted felon set a fellow subway passenger on fire last week – his second attack this year, the first in which he chased three men with a lighted object at a Chelsea subway station.

Yet this man was roaming the streets instead of behind bars.

Turns out District Attorney Bragg can get a conviction if he really sets his mind to it.

And here the liberal media celebrated him as a hero!

The sanctimonious Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC compared this lazy slouch of a prosecutor to David versus Goliath, a modest man who grew up in Harlem’s “Strivers’ Row.”

Bragg took his victory lap with a presser, while Biden officials grinned in the background claiming that this verdict was the result of “following the facts and the law, and doing so without fear or favor.”

Please! This whole lawsuit was filed of “favor” – to Biden and the Democrats, against Trump and MAGA.

    Not politically motivated?

Explain that Biden sent one of his own communications people to the courthouse with Robert De Niro on Wednesday, with the actor injecting himself into the face-painting, boob-flashing crowd with a speech no one asked for, calling Trump a “loser” and a clown’.

The lack of self-awareness is truly astonishing.

After the verdict, The New Yorker magazine immediately unveiled its next cover, which showed Trump in small handcuffs.

Rachel Maddow had her all-star panel ready to go, everyone brimming with elation and smugness, congratulating each other on providing completely objective reporting before welcoming the prosecution’s star witness, Michael Cohen.

For theater of the absurd this was unbeatable. Maddow treated this cheap suit, with his inelegant speaking voice and crude thought processes, as if he were a top mind, a potentate – his “Shakespearean saga,” she told us.

This is the same woman who spent an hour tearing her clothes and trying to calm herself down after the Mueller report found no evidence of “Russian interference” in the 2016 election.

Cohen is a convicted felon, a known liar and a thief who stole $30,000 from Trump while he was in office, and whose bitterness for not following Trump to the White House has been his animating force ever since.

But sure, let’s treat it like the Rosetta Stone.

The same goes for Stormy Daniels, the prosecution’s second-most important witness, whose story conveniently changed on the witness stand.

No longer the hot-headed porn star she is. No, Stormy was now some sort of victim who “blacked out” during what she called her mediocre, unprotected sex with Trump, spiking her tale of woe with unnecessarily itchy details like the alleged involvement of “spanking.”

Christmas morning for much of the media, who otherwise clutch their proverbial pearls on the idea of suppressed stories.

Let’s talk about suppressed stories. Ashely Biden admitted weeks ago in a legal filing that her diary is real — a diary with the entries “I was harassed. I think so” and also “Showering with my dad (probably not appropriate).”

In addition to this publication, there has been a complete media blackout on Ashley’s dairy.

‘Without fear or favour’? It’s all such selfish nonsense.

Stormy Daniels' story conveniently changed on the stands. No longer the hot-headed porn star she is. No, Stormy was now some sort of victim who

The Hunter Biden trial is also, we are told, a political battle.

And Joe’s family, bringing millions from China and other countries – what makes Biden think President Trump won’t turn around and arm his DOJ against him?

A dangerous precedent has been set. If Biden were truly presidential, he would have insisted that his Justice Department drop the case.

Instead, immediately after the verdict, he took to Twitter and started begging.

“I hate to ask…” he began. I’m sorry – when has a Biden ever hated asking for money?

Biden is sorely mistaken if he thinks Trump’s conviction will help him win.

A devastating story in Politico this week reports that Democrats are “panicking” about Biden’s chances.

“Donors ask me what I think every hour,” said one Dem adviser, adding that it is “so much easier to show them [data] so while they read it, I can pour a drink.”

Get ready to drown that sorrow, Dems.

When the first presidential debate takes place on June 27, the first question for Donald Trump will undoubtedly be: “How can you, as a convicted felon, hold the office of President of the United States?”

Liberal America still doesn’t get it. They have learned nothing from 2016. This judgment, and much of the obvious glee and biased media reporting, just got Trump re-elected.

And they’ll say they never saw it coming.
