Celtics star Al Horford puts his stunning six-bedroom Boston mansion up for sale for an eyewatering $9M

The Celtics have signed Al Horford through next season, but that won’t stop the veteran player from putting his family’s mansion in the Boston area up for sale for an eye-watering $9 million.

Horford and his teammates currently hold a 1-0 lead over the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals, so the sale may not take up much of his attention at this point.

The six-bedroom, seven-bathroom home is protected by a wrought-iron fence and perimeter fence in Brookline — an upscale suburb inhabited by everyone from Tom Brady and Robert Kraft to John F. Kennedy.

The ‘modern masterpiece’ was built in 2021 and, according to the real estate agent, is located on a green site of 1 hectare George Sarkis by Douglas Elliman. There’s a two-story foyer, a grand staircase and glass railings, not to mention high ceilings to enjoy the sunlight that Eastern Massachusetts has to offer.

And what mansion would be complete without a Sub-Zero refrigerator and Miele and Wolf appliances, custom cabinetry, a walk-in pantry and an entire wine room in the chef’s kitchen?

Formal living and dining rooms, a junior primary suite and two half bathrooms can be found on the first floor, while the second level features “a large primary suite and four guest bedrooms, each with private bathrooms and walk-in closets.” according to the broker’s description.

Other features include central air conditioning – which is hard to find in a neighborhood as old as Brookline – as well as a fireplace, patio, jetted tub, marble countertops and double sinks.

As for the outside, it is of course landscaped and has a large terrace.

The annual assessed property tax of $77,000 won’t help the real estate move, but it’s safe to say that anyone who can afford a $9 million home can make it.

Dominican Republic-born Al, the son of Tito Horford, a 7-foot-1 center who played with the Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Bullets in the late 1980s and early 1990s, is in his second stint with the Celtics. He first played for Boston from 2016 through 2019, but after signing with Philadelphia in 2019 and being traded to Oklahoma City, Horford returned to Beantown in a separate trade in 2021.

“Big Al,” as he is known, is a five-time All-Star and two-time national champion at the University of Florida.

He married 2003 Miss Universe Amelia Vega in Santo Domingo on December 24, 2011 and the couple now have five children: a son, Ean, and daughters Alía, Ava, Nova and their youngest, Mila, who was born in December 2022. .

Horford’s reason for putting the house on the market is unclear. The 37-year-old is owed $9 million for the 2024-25 season, which would be his 18th since being drafted with the third pick of the 2007 NBA Draft.

The Celtics return to action on Thursday in Game 2 of the ECF against the visiting Pacers.
