Tom Grennan has revealed his awkward first date with his now wife Daniella.
The 28-year-old English singer, who is currently touring Australia, spoke about the couple’s relationship during an interview on the Kyle & Jackie O Show on Wednesday.
Grennan told presenters Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson that the couple first met in a lift, before sharing a cigarette in a smoking area of the building they were in.
He went on to say that he and Daniella “bonded over a cigarette” and that he was awkwardly rebuffed when he went to kiss her.
“I leaned in for a kiss and she said, ‘What the hell are you doing?’” the Little Bit of Love hitmaker recalled.

Grennan told Australian radio hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson that the couple first met in a lift, before sharing a cigarette in a smoking area of the building they were in.
However, the singer recovered with a smooth move by saying ‘well, if you’re not going to kiss me, at least put your number in my phone’ and the rest was history.
Later in the segment, Tom revealed his heartfelt gesture for his bride at the couple’s wedding last month.
After his speech at the reception, the singer sang a song he composed especially for the occasion, as he believed his dyslexia prevented his speech from adequately expressing his feelings.
“I gave a speech and then I said, ‘Daniella, I can’t talk as well as I would like, but here goes’ and I wrote a song for her,” he said.
The singer-songwriter plays Sydney’s Metro Theater on Wednesday night, followed by 170 Russell in Melbourne on Thursday.
Speaking exclusively to Ny Breaking Australia last month, Grennan said he was keen to ‘see what happens’ Down Under.
However, the singer recovered from the awkwardness by saying, “Well, if you’re not going to kiss me, at least put your number in my phone,” and the rest was history.
‘I haven’t been there in a while. So just look at what happens,” he noted.
‘I want to visit some beaches again. And also do performances, do shows. We have two big shows coming up. I know the Australian crowd is really on my side, so yeah, it’ll be fun.”
Fans attending his shows can anticipate ‘big production, big shows’ similar to the shows he is known for in England, but with a personal touch that showcases his genuine connection with his audience.
‘The shows are fun, they’re energetic and the songs, the songs are good, it’s sustainable. You come on the show and sing a song, and my shows are a community of people, everyone is safe and everyone just wants to have a good time.”
