aespa Unveils First Full-Length Album “Armageddon”

K-pop sensation aespa released its highly anticipated first full-length album “Armageddon” on Monday, along with the music video for its title track. The album features 10 tracks, headlined by the hip-hop single “Armageddon,” which member Karina described as a journey of “finding myself in the multiverse.”

During a YouTube livestream held hours before the album’s release, Karina elaborated on the song’s theme, explaining that it is about “realizing infinite possibilities and how only I can define myself.”

In the lead-up to the album’s release, aespa has been actively promoting the pre-release track “Supernova” on various Korean music shows. This promotional effort has generated significant anticipation among fans and the music community alike.

SM Entertainment, the group’s management company, announced early Monday that pre-orders for “Armageddon” had surpassed the one million mark, according to K-pop news website Soompi. This milestone underscores the quartet’s growing influence and popularity in the music industry.

aespa, consisting of members Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning, debuted in November 2020 under SM Entertainment, a label that also houses renowned acts like Girls’ Generation and Red Velvet. The group has quickly risen to fame with its innovative metaverse concept, where each member has a virtual counterpart.

Before “Armageddon,” aespa had already achieved significant commercial success, with their extended plays “Girls,” “My World,” and “Drama” each selling over a million copies. The group’s past hits, such as “Next Level,” “Savage,” and “Spicy,” have cemented their reputation as trendsetters in the K-pop industry.
